'Conversations with the Shore' - BY LAURA ROBERTSON
'Conversations with the Shore' - BY LAURA ROBERTSON
In this series of three macramé sculptures, Laura Robertson weaves together four years of reconnection with her hometown, South Shields. Each piece serves as a compositional narrative a tactile archive of place, identity, and belonging.
Through knots, loops, and gathered objects: shells, sea glass, fragments of brass. Robertson explores what it means to be a Sanddancer: someone shaped by the rhythm of the water and the shifting memory of the coastline. Every material carries a story, a trace of time weathered by tide and touch.
These works are conversations between fibre and found object, between sea and self. The works invites viewers to reflect on how landscapes shape us.
